10 Books For Your Spooky TBR This October

It’s my favorite season…Fall! Season of the cozy sweater, cooler weather, and who could forget pumpkin spice! October is the perfect time to cozy up in front of your window with a new book and a hot beverage and watch as the leaves change. Here are some books just spooky enough to get me through October. PLEASE NOTE: I am not reviewing any of these books. I have not read most of them. These are just the TBR books I wanted to share with you. I have also listed where to get all of these books at the bottom of the post. Happy Reading!

Not Even Bones by Rebecca Schaeffer. Nita had one job, and one job only: dissecting supernatural beings her mom “acquired” in ways that were none of her business. She also had nothing to do with the sale of body parts that occurred after. That was her life. Until her mom wants her to dissect a new specimen, a live one. Nita decides she can’t be a part of it. In an attempt to save her mother’s newest victim, Nita found herself captured, to be sold on the black market – since Nita is a supernatural being. Nita tried to be good and lost everything. Now that she is the one locked up, how far will she go to escape?

Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson. Albert Ellingham wanted to open a school for the brightest minds where learning is a game. Shortly after the school opened, tragedy struck and his wife and daughter went missing. The only clue left is a riddle signed by Truly, Devious. The trail went cold and it became one of the great unsolved crimes in American history. Stevie Bell, a first-year student at Ellingham Academy, is trying to find her place in this school, and she has an ambitious plan: solve the cold case. That is until someone else winds up dead and Truly, Devious returns. Will Stevie be able to solve the case?

You by Caroline Kepnes. Think of everything you post on social media. Who you are with, where you went, and where you are going. With one click, someone can learn everything about you. Guinevere Beck: went to Brown University, lives on Bank St., and will be at a bar in Brooklyn tonight. What a perfect place for a “chance” meeting. One look at Beck in a bookstore, Joe Goldberg knew he had to have her. Joe turns from stalker to boyfriend, transforming himself into Beck’s perfect man. He invisibly takes control of her life, making sure she will have no choice but to run into his waiting arms, removing any obstacles in his way. But how far is he willing to go to ensure his fate?

Verity by Colleen Hoover. (18+) On the brink of financial ruin, Lowen Ashleigh accepts a job from Jeremy Crawford, husband of the best-selling author Verity Crawford. Verity suffered a horrific accident leaving her unable to finish one of her best-selling series. Jermy hires Lowen to finish the series with payment she couldn’t refuse. As Lowen is sifting through Verity’s various outlines and drafts, she stumbles upon an unfinished biography with bone-chilling admissions, including what really happened on the day her daughter died. Lowen decides to keep the manuscript to herself. But, as Lowen’s feelings for Jermy grow, could this manuscript be the thing she needs to secure his love? After all, how could all these horrifying things make him able to continue to love her?

The Rules by Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguie. Callabrese High is known to host one of the most exclusive parties, a scavenger hunt. Junior Robin Brisset has never been invited but jumps at the chance to be included. When the trademark scavenger hunt begins, the rules are simple, don’t run, don’t scream, play the game. This time, it is the schools elite that are being hunted. Now Robin must go against every rule she’s lived by to survive. With a cast of unreliable narrators, no one is safe and everyone is a suspect.

The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling. Imagine Hocus Pocus meets steamy romance. Long ago, Vivienne Jones fixed her broken heart with vodka, depressing music, and of course, a curse on her horrible ex. Oh, did I mention she’s a witch?! She never thought anything would come from the hex until Rhys Penhallow (our horrid ex) returns to town, and bad things happening to him seem a little too convenient. Vivienne never expected the curse to be real. Now with murderous wind-up toys, a pissed-off ghost, and a talking cat, Vivi and Rhys have to ignore their chemistry and break the breakup curse.

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black. Coldtowns are where evil lives and breathes. A place where quarantined monsters and humans exist in a bloody mix of predator and prey. The only problem is, once you enter Coldtown, you can never come back. After a party, Tana wakes up surrounded by corpses. Only her ex-boyfriend and a mysterious boy survive. Now Tana must enter a race against the clock to save the three of them. This means going into the Heart of Coldtown. Will she survive it?

There’s Someone Inside Your House By Stephanie Perkins. Leaving her dark past behind, Makani Young moved in with her grandmother in landlocked Nebraska. She finally thinks she can have a normal life. She has friends and Ollie, her new love interest, everything is falling in place. That is until the students of Osborne Hugh begin dying in a series of gruesome murders. As the terror grows closer and her feelings for Ollie grow stronger, Makani is forced to confront her dark past.

Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. Noemi is a glamorous debutant. Her chic gowns and perfect lipstick make her stand out at cocktail parties. This is before she receives a letter from her cousin, asking Noemi to save her. She heads to High Place, a distant house in the Mexican countryside. Noemi is smart, headstrong, and unafraid. Unafraid of her cousin’s alluring yet frightening husband, unafraid of his father, and unafraid of the house itself, which has a few secrets of its own. Her only ally is the family’s youngest son, who is hiding more than meets the eye. As Noemi digs deeper, she finds layers of violence and madness she doesn’t know if she’s ready to face.

Gothikana by RuNyx. Corvina Clemm has always been an outcast and losing her mother left her adrift. That is until she receives an acceptance letter from the University of Verenmore. She accepts and ends up in an old, secluded castle. Vad Deverell is a closed book, and he likes it that way. He knows all the goings-on at the University. They shouldn’t have crossed paths, but now that they have, it’s as if they are tied together by the universe. As Corvina gets close to uncovering the disappearances of people going back 500 years, Vad knows he needs to keep an eye on her.
